WHY WE PAY TRIBUTE ON THIS DAY....MEMORIAL DAY!

Memorial Day is a United States Federal holiday observed every year, always on the last Monday in May.

This is the day we HONOR our fallen soldiers who died for their country, protecting and serving ME and my fellow Americans!  For this I say, "thank you for your committment to our country," we will always remember each of you and keep your spirits alive!

Sometimes we get lost in our own day to day that we forget about those fighting for our freedom and our name...THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!  So, we take this day to remember them in our hearts and to recognize that they didn't die in vain!

To the fallen, to the veterens, and to those still "fighting the fight" for our country...
We Salute You!!

IT'S A "TWO-FER"

I am a sucka for a kitchen gadget, pots and pans (and have brand new ones which I still haven't used), even silverware.  Other favs are my cast irons!

But the one item that is so useful, a "two-fer," if you will, is definitely my indoor grill/griddle!  Yes, I've bragged in the past about this kitchen charmer.  If it's shiny and I can cook on it or it fits my "kitchen life" perfectly, I buy it! And sometimes hubby just don't feel like grilling outside or he gets home from work too late...

Check this out, by night it's a GRILL for family dinner:
PORK CHOPS

Add a little Velveeta Mac n Cheese and some Black-Eyed Peas!

DINNER IS SERVED!

Then, turn it over and by morning it's a GRIDDLE for family breakfast:
PANCAKES

Cooked some sausage and,

BREAKFAST IS SERVED!

The one thing I am not aware of is whether or not it works on an electric stove.  I have a gas stove!  As you can see, you use two burners at the same time.

Now tell me about your favorite cooking utensils, pots, pans, or whatever it is that makes your kitchen a "Must Have?"

CAMEL FAMILY'S FAV PLACE TO EAT!

Everybody has a FAV place that they like to eat at.  I'm NOT talking about your fancy schmancy places or your favorite drive-thru food or pizza joint, just your average neighborhood friendly place to eat.  Comfort food!

Since the first time Mr. Camel took me there, I was hooked!  And it just happened to be across the street from the hospital Destini was born in and the offices of the OB/GYN who delivered her, so it was convenient.  I looked forward to her OBY/GYN appointments because I knew that meant we would be eating at 5th Avenue Cafe!
It's not the biggest place inside, a little bigger than what the picture shows.  Also, off to the side is another small room with tables and a small room in the back with seating as well.  TVs at every corner so one is always facing you! And an open bar, if you're just interested in drinks!

It's in midtown Phoenix, mostly they cater to the St. Joseph's Hospital staff, doctors, nurses, downtown lawyers, etc.  They are always busy! Reservations can be made!  By the way, they are only open until about 2:30 p.m.  They are NOT open for dinner.

I cannot even begin to tell you the numerous times we have eaten there! I've had a wide variety on their menu including their salads to breakfast to a burger!  It's the MOSTEST! Especially the breakfast.  And soooo much food on your plate!  The pancakes are to die for (Destini's favorite)!

UMMM, elbows off the table please!

(Note my "to-go" Mr. Pibb...I'm an addict)
(Also, note all the biz cards laminated under the table tops, how cool)

If you live in Phoenix or in the Valley, I highly recommend you check it out! If you are thinking of passing through or coming to Phoenix, I suggest you at least have breakfast here!

THE 13TH JUROR

I always love when there is a trial that is "worth the watch," when televised.

I've been waiting for this one for a good while now!!

Over the last couple of weeks, I've watched the entire jury selection process, I've watched the judge, I've watched the prosecutors, the defense team and, Casey Anthony herself, currently on trial for the death of her daughter, little Caylee Anthony....

Caylee Anthony, 3 years old, disappeared in June 2008.  However, her disappearance was not reported to authorities until July 2008, and then it was 5 months later they found her remains in a wooded area in Orlando, Florida.

When her mother was questioned, there seemed to be a whole lot of discrepancies and "holes" in her story, and she was later then booked and indicted for the murder of Caylee.  Casey Anthony now faces the death penalty...

I am hoping she didn't do it, I am hoping to hear something in this trial that points somewhere else; but I just don't know.  I am going in this with opinions as a mother, most disturbing is, "Why would you wait 30 days to report your child missing?"  And you were partying hard in those 30 days, caught on camera and video!  It just doesn't look good :(

I really don't want to focus on Casey Anthony, the mother.  I am watching and looking for "Justice For Caylee!"  So, therefore, I am calling myself the "13th juror" in this trial with an open mind and an open heart.

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED TO CAYLEE ANTHONY?

Well, I'll keep ya posted on that!  And feel free to join in with me (if you are watching the case), I look forward to the discussions and thoughts of you all.

And if you are not familiar with the case, READ HERE FOR COMPLETE DETAILS OF CAYLEE.

In HER Own Words...

MUST read this first!

After all the BIG stink I made about "Two And A Half Men," it's crazy about what we see on TV and what is going on behind closed doors.  Don't get me wrong, I still stand by my stance that the show must go on!

I am not sure we can compare Roseanne to Charlie.  We ALL know for a fact if Roseanne had left the show, there would have been NO show!  I am not saying their cast wasn't one of the BEST, but the show was called "Roseanne."  "Two And a Half Men" might be able to survive for a couple of seasons.  But really, how many more seasons was Charlie really going to be able to take the show either?  We'll never know now will we, but I do know one thing I love Two And A Half Man and I am a FAN!

After reading (I told you to READ IT FIRST) Roseanne's article in a NY magazine last week, it got me to thinking back to the show and remembering that probably around Season 3, I realized ALL WOMEN took a big jump forward in being, shall we say a little more "assertive in decision making."  Every woman wanted a "Dan Conner" as a husband.  "Yes Dear, No Dear."  I mean that is the way the show went, it was Roseanne's way or the highway!  Some men would say Dan was a pushover, a wimp, or whipped.  That's so not true.  That's NOT how I saw it at all.  It's a middle-class man supporting his middle-class wife's decisions and knowing that she has the BEST interest of her family first!  Why change what works?  I myself being an "Alpha Female," understands!

The sad part is why did she have to fight so hard for any credit due her?  It's NOT just a man's world anymore in Hollywood!  Better recognize!  Watch out men, now there's a Tiny Fey out there....

I recently found myself following Roseanne on Twitter.  My first twitter to her was:
"LUV YOU SO MUCH..THINKING ABOUT BEING YOU WHEN I GROW UP, IF I'M WORTHY♥"

This morning I got a "ReTweet" from Roseanne with her usual wit and sense of humor:
"NAH, JUST GET A JOB WITH BENEFITS!"
Thanks for the "ReTweet" Roseanne, my day is now complete!

HOW OLD IS YOUR TUPPERWARE?

I love, love, love my Tupperware, just like my mom!  Actually, I've never met anybody who didn't say, "I love my Tupperware."  I have bought other brands such as the Glads...
And the Rubbermaid bowls too...

These are good and will get the job done, but for how long?  Exactly!

Now TUPPERWARE?

There is a reason why they offer a lifetime guarantee on their products!

For example, these are my FAVS, and I use at least one or two every day for something or another.
I LOVE THESE BOWLS!
Guess how old?
16 YEARS!

My favorite collander (though I have many)!
19 years!

AND, PASSED DOWN FROM MOM, MY MEASURING CUPS!
35 YEARS OLD!

AGAIN, AS I SAID EARLIER, I USE SOMETHING OUT OF THESE EVERY DAY!  THOUGH I HAVE NEW ONES, I ALWAYS USE THESE!  I REALLY AM...

♥MY MOM♥

A DELICIOUS "MEATLESS" MEAL!

ME AND HUBBY BOTH COME FROM "MEAT LOVING" FAMILIES; ME, MEAT AND POTATOES; HUBBY, MEAT AND RICE.   ONE THING WE BOTH AGREE ON, THOUGH, IS PASTA!  AND THE COOL THING IS, WE ARE RAISING DESTINI TO LOVE ALL THREE!

WE EAT MEAT JUST ABOUT EVERY NIGHT OF SOME KIND, WHETHER IT'S SOME KIND OF RED MEAT TO CHICKEN TO PORK CHOPS, ETC.

I DECIDED TO MAKE A "MEATLESS" DINNER FOR A CHANGE.  I WASN'T TOO SURE HOW MR. CAMEL WOULD FEEL ABOUT THAT BUT, HE LIKED IT!  THOUGH NEXT TIME HE WOULD LIKE SOME HOMEMADE MEATBALLS!  YEP, AGREED!  I TOLD YOU, WE ARE CARNIVORS!

BUT AGAIN, IT WAS A GREAT MEAL, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A VEGETARIAN!  IT'S ALSO SO SIMPLE AND SOOOO SEMI-NOTHING-HOMEMADE!  YEA, IT'S JUST BEEN LIKE THAT LATELY AROUND HERE, BUT THAT'S FOR ANOTHER BLOG!  I'M JUST BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!

TO START WITH, I FOUND SOME WONDERFUL THINGS AT THE GROCERY STORE...

YOUR CHOICE OF PENNE, ROTINI, AND ELBOWS.  THEY COME IN 3 SEPARATE BAGS, THAT COOK IN 3 MINUTES!  LITERALLY!  BOIL IN A BAG!

NEEDED SOME SAUCE, BUT DIDN'T FEEL LIKE MAKING ANY HOMEMADE, SOOOOO THESE ARE WHAT I FOUND.....YES, I BOUGHT BOTH!

Sun Dried Tomato
Basil Pesto

SORRY, DON'T HAVE A COUPON :(

AFTER I PUT ALL THAT TOGETHER, I THREW SOME GARLIC BREAD IN THE OVEN!

I ALSO MADE A GREEN BELL PEPPER, PURPLE ONION, AND SWEET CHERRY TOMATO SALAD WITH ITALIAN DRESSING!  OH, AND CROUTONS ON TOP!

TA DA...

I CHOSE THE BASIL PESTO!

TWO AND A HALF MINUS ONE = ONE AND A HALF, PLUS ONE = TWO AND A HALF..."MEN"

#BITTER

To quote Charlie Sheen:

"Ashton Kutcher is a sweetheart and a brilliant comedic performer.  Oh wait, so am I!!"  The actor griped Friday.  "Enjoy the show America, Enjoy seeing 2.0 in the demo every Monday, WB. Enjoy planet Chuck, Ashton.  There is no air, laughter, loyalty, or love there."

I mean come on Charlie, we ALL know you begged for your job back, both publicly and behind closed doors.  They're done!  But, the FANS are not!  The show "MUST" go on.

CLICK HERE to read my thoughts when the show was shut down

As I said in my past blog (click on above), there is always more to a show than just "one" character.  It's true Charlie is a FABULOUS actor and comedian.  The show was #1, but not just because of him.  There are some talented actors and actresses on "Two And A Half Men!"

SIDEBAR:  It's kinda like Michael Jordan.  Bear with me here.  It's given that he is the most talented basketball player in my lifetime!  However, Michael had team mates that also made those championships happen, he didn't #win on his own!

You know the old saying, "It Takes A Village."

You lost this one Charlie, but let's give Ashton a chance to be #WINNING!  We should be happy for Ashton, wish him luck,  and hope that we, AS FANS, don't lose the show....

HOLA, IT'S DORA!

DORA, BOOTS (the monkey), AND SWIPER (the raccoon)!

I HAVE A 19-MONTH-OLD ADDICTED TO DORA!  IT COULD BE ME AND HUBBY'S FAULT AS WE DO EXPOSE HER A LOT TO DORA.  I GUESS I WANTED HER TO REALLY LIKE DORA BECAUSE I DO FIND IT VERY EDUCATIONAL; I ALSO THINK IT'S AWESOME FOR A CHILD AT A YOUNG AGE TO BE EXPOSED TO DIFFERENT LANGUAGES.

DADDY IS A SWIPER FAN....OHHHHHH MAAAAAAAAN (swipper voice)!

HASN'T TAKEN HER EYES OFF THE TV BECAUSE DORA IS ON!

HAVING A SMOOTHIE ON HER DORA PLACEMAT!

DADDY BOUGHT HER A TALKING DORA KITCHEN!!

I HAVE TO GIVE A BIG "SHOUT OUT" TO ONE OF MY FAV STORES AND, IT JUST HAPPENS TO BE RIGHT DOWN THE STREET FROM HUBBY'S OFFICE SO IF I BUY ANYTHING ON FACEBOOK FROM THEM (YES, SHOPPING ON FACEBOOK), I JUST CALL WITH MY CREDIT CARD AND DADDY PICKS IT UP ON HIS WAY HOME.  OR...SOMETIMES HE LIKES TO JUST STOP IN ON HIS WAY HOME AND, BROWSE!  HE ALWAYS COMES HOME WITH SOMETHING, USUALLY A PAIR OF VANS, OR TWO.  THEIR NAME IS.....

HISSYFITS!

SO MY PRINCESS DORA, I MEAN DESTINI LIKES TO "DRESS" A LITTLE BIT IN DORA TOO, OF COURSE!

MY PRINCESS DORA DESTINI!!!

NOW, LIKE DORA, WE NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT HER DORA BACKBACK.  IT HOLDS FUN TOYS INSIDE AND...YEA FOR MOM AND DAD WHILE RIDING IN THE CAR TRYING TO TALK AND THIS IS WHAT YOU HEAR OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER...WELL YOU GET THE POINT...OHHHH YOU DON'T GET WHAT I'M SAYING?  WELL LISTEN UP.... video
