INTRODUCING THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE

I love weddings!!  I mean, I really love weddings!  I love to be in a wedding, I love to attend a wedding, and I love to watch a wedding if it's televised.  Especially royalty!  Perhaps us Americans are so intrigued with royalty because we don't have royalty in our country.  Oh sure we call a diva, "Hollywood Royalty," but it certainly is NOT even close to real royalty!

Thirty years ago (1981), when I was 16 years old....YES, I can remember it like it was yesterday.  The long anticipated wedding day of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer (Princess Diana).

Back then, and probably yet still today, that has to be one of the MOST extragavant weddings I had ever seen with my own eyes.  At the time, you certainly don't think it is "overdone" by any means.  Every girl dreams of their wedding day, and to look like a "princess."  Diana WAS and WILL always be MY princess.

But now, 30 years later, as Princess Di's eldest son has taken a wife, I think Kate too will be a leader like her mother-in-law!  I believe William has made a fine choice for a wife.  She couldn't be more elegant, graceful, beautiful, and quite shy like Princess Di.

I think Diana would have LOVED Kate!!

It definitely was "fitting" that William would give Kate, his bride to be, his mother's engagement ring.  I think that symbolizes keeping his mother's memory alive, and I believe she would have wanted him to give it to the love of his life.
After watching William and Kate's wedding this morning, I have to say...WOW!  They kept it much more simple than 30 years ago, when his parents married, yet elegance at its finest!  She was stunning in her dress!  William was handsome in uniform!  I noticed some similarities in "tradition," however.

Today, however, was about the "Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!"  How exciting from start to finish, from their arrival to their departure, oh and the wedding in-between!  Here are some fav pics of mine!

A GIRL AND HER KITTY! A NEW 'FRO FOR ME!

I remember before Destini was born Mr. Camel asking me a very serious question.  "What are you going to do if the baby is allergic to cats?"  Huh?  What?  My who?

Ummmmmm..pause, silence, pondering, still pondering, sweating, full blown anxiety attack!!!

Then I replied, as Scarlett O'Hara would have replied in all her glory, "I can't think about that today, I'll have to think about that tomorrow." That's usually been my stock answer to anything that I DON'T want to have to answer or even think about!

Of course, I would have picked Destini. But, just to keep things in prospective here, Sadie has been with me for 13 years; Muffy has been with me for 8-9 years; and mini-me for almost 5 years. That's some long-term relationships! That's family!

Well, Bless the Lord in the Heavens that our Destini was indeed NOT allergic to cats.  And since that was a big WHEWWWW, I was then tormented with the thought of, "What if the cats don't like her?"

Again, we were Blessed because they LOVE HER!  And it certainly never occurred to me just how much they would love her.  Well, let me back that up.  Mini-me wouldn't close enough to her to ever find out if she likes her or not, but then she is a scaredy cat anyway of human beings period, EXCEPT for me!  So, she kinda don't count in the realm of things here.  She's quite an exordinary cat all in herself.
This is as close to Destini as Mini-Me is going to get

Since I have been sick this week with the sinus/allergy/flu-like thing going on, I had plenty of time to go through my thousands of pics that I have snapped of Destini since she was born (so you can imagine how many Mr. Camel has on his camera, prolly a thousand and two)....anywhooo, I was going through pics after pics and realized just how much time she does spend with her kitty kitties, or I should say just how much time they spend with her!

SIDEBAR:  I KNOW MY 3G PHONE TAKES AWFUL PICS, SO HUBBY AND I ARE GOING TO UPGRADE TO THE I-PHONE AFTER AT&T TAKES OVER T-MOBILE.  THEY TAKE SOME DANG GOOD PICTURES.  AND HONESTLY, DON'T LAUGH, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE OUR DIGITAL CAMERA...SHUT YO MOUTH!  I'M NOT DIGI-SAVY!

EVEN HER TOY KITTIES...SHE LOVES EM!

WHAT CAN I SAY?  SHE'S A SUCKA FOR A PRETTY KITTY FACE.  SHE TAKES AFTER ME!!!

SAID GOODBYE TO THE BLONDE...MY WHOLE LIFE I'VE BEEN A BLONDE!  I WANTED TO GO HAIR-DRASTIC ON MYSELF!  I WON'T LIE TO YOU, I WAS SHOCKED I DID IT.

I FOUND THIS GREAT SALON: click here

The next thing I know, I'm in a chair and within 30 seconds of showing the hair stylist what I wanted, he did this:

REALITY CHECK!

SITCOMS have really become a thing of the past on television, am I right?  There are so few sitcoms left that I even watch, unless it's the old re-runs from past shows.  I got to thinking about this the other day and it made me sad.  I really am a comedy/sitcom kinda chicky.   As I said in a previous post, I am looking forward to the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

DAYTIME TV, as well, isn't what it used to be when I was a kid.  You either watched a soap opera, a game show, or PBS.  Your pick!  Well, that's a thing of the past now too.  I am sure when Destini grows up she is going to ask me one day, "Mom, what was a soap opera?"  I'll respond, and then I'm sure she'll reply, "How lame."

THEN I got to really thinking about television and I realized something.  Guess what?  We have been watching reality TV far longer than we know we have been.  It's just that it's changed, tweaked a bit, and one might even say "raunchy."  Obviously, the viewers are into this (me included) because they get ALL the ratings.  I mean Jerry Springer has been on television now for about what 18 years or so; he has never won an Emmy, yet his ratings are over the top!  Go figure!

BUT before Jerry Springer, we had Phil Donahue, Richard Bey, Sally Jessy Raphael, Jenny Jones, and Ricki Lake!  Think about it....reality drama!

EVEN Oprah started off doing "drama" in her early years of her show, but she quickly moved into another direction, though it still is somewhat reality TV!

I for one stopped watching the daytime soap operas when I went back to college in the early 1990s.  Though, as my mom always said, you can stop watching a soap opera for 5 years and tune back in and pick right up where you left off, because not much changes!  It the same old story, they usually divorce, remarry, divorce, remarry, cheat with the ex and then remarry him again, then cheat on him and marry his brother!!

DAYTIME TV for me turned into mostly reality TV court/judge shows!  I mean come on, it makes your family seem a little bit more normal when you hear some of those stories.

SO as the story goes, I guess I had been watching reality TV during the daytime for a long time now; I just didn't know it was going to become a nighttime obsession too!  I always blamed it on the fact the sitcoms were dwindling away, so what else is there to watch.  I fought the fight for a while.  A lot of people would say to me, "Do you watch such and such (some type of reality show)?"  NO!  It's not for me!  Unfortunately, every time someone says that to me, I end up being a BIG liar without knowing I was even telling a lie.  The next thing I know I have "tuned in" just once to a show and then, I'm addicted!

I certainly didn't intend to get "stuck" on these programs, but I am!  And now there are so many that I watch, the list is endless.  I of course have my super favs, including the Kardashians!

AND the spin-offs just kept coming, and I became more addicted to watching the DASH babes!

THE cast of Jersey Shore!  I know, I know...but I can't help it!

THERE are so many others that I watch, like the Apprentice (occasionally, not every season).  I also used to watch John and Kate Plus 8, but somehow I lost the umph...

I am really looking forward to the newest reality TV show premiering this weekend.  It's called....

                                          MOB WIVES!

MAYBE I NEED A REALITY CHECKOR A REALITY SHOW....
